MOTHERHOOD

The Term ‘Working Mom’ is a Redundancy.

If you’ve never seen the Netflix series, Workin’ Moms and you’re a mom who works outside the home, I recommend it for a good laugh. And speaking of the eternal juggling act that is being a working mother, has anyone out there truly cracked the code of 'having it all'? No? Well, you're in good company.

👩‍👧‍👦According to this 2023, Motherly survey, 58 percent of moms are primarily responsible for household duties and caring for their children.

Drawing from the lessons of the Pandemic, it's clear that working mothers often shoulder more than anyone should ever have to bear. Let's delve into some of the most significant challenges they face.

  • Can you guess the trip? It's not a business or pleasure trip; it's a guilt trip. Unfortunately, working moms often feel this way, believing they aren't doing enough (when they're doing the complete opposite). To combat this, remember to cut yourself some slack. Your best is what truly matters!

  • No, I won’t have a Zoom call at 6:30 p.m. It's essential to reflect on what you value most and use that perspective to establish your boundaries. Don't hesitate to say no when necessary; just make sure to communicate this with your co-workers, friends, and family. In our household, we've found that putting our phones in another room when everyone is home for the evening helps us focus all our attention on our family.

And when all else fails, Kate Winslet said it best, “That’s the wonderful thing about mothers, you can because you must, and you just do.”

FOR THE HOME

Holiday Home Refresh Without Breaking the Bank.

As the holiday season approaches, you might consider some home refresh projects to give your space a more updated look. The great news is that these projects don't have to break the bank or consume months of your time to complete.

Better Home and Gardens suggests…

🔨 Raise the roof. Just kidding, that is not budget-friendly. Create an illusion of higher ceilings by hanging curtains closer to the ceiling and pair with long, flowing drapes. It will give your space a much more elevated look.

🔨Peel and Stick. Wallpaper is having a moment, and vibrant patterns can elevate your decor. While traditional wallpaper can be a pricey commitment, the good news is that nowadays, there's a plethora of budget-friendly options that offer the same stylish impact without the permanence.

While This Old House says…

🔨Hardware. By simply upgrading the hardware in key areas like your bathroom or kitchen cabinets, you can significantly enhance your home's value without the need for an extensive renovation.

🔨Lighting. Opt for LED light bulbs to enhance both energy efficiency and illumination in your home. And if you feel your fixtures are dating your house, let's take a glimpse into the trends for 2023.

GREEN ALERT🌿: Indoor plants effortlessly infuse personality and style into otherwise lackluster spaces, often at a more budget-friendly price point than decorative items such as throw pillows or accent chairs. Furthermore, the finest indoor plants not only deliver beauty and require minimal upkeep, but they also contribute to improved air quality while promoting a sense of calm and reducing stress and anxiety.
